By a patented fermentation process, we turn Passamaquoddy Bay salmon into a rich natural plant food that is ideal for the regular feeding and care of seedlings, established annuals, perennials, roses, vegetables, houseplants, shrubs, trees and lawns.
We have added a small amount of citric and acetic acid (lemon and vinegar) to mask its strong smell.
Apply either by watering-in around your plants or as a foliar spray at a dilution rate of 2 tablespoons per gallon of water every time you water. One gallon will cover 10-20 square feet. This dosage can be safely increased to 8 ounces per gallon if applied less frequently.
At the lower dilution rate Salmon Plant Food's distinctive odor will dissipate within an hour or two. When used at heavier doses, that odor may linger for as long as 24 hours or more. But, remember, it does what it does because of that smell.
Salmon Plant Food is a true liquid, thus needs only a light shake before use and will not clog spray applicators. We recommend using a hose-end sprayer that allows you to adjust the dilution rate.
Salmon Plant Food is certified for use growing organically certified crops by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.
Salmon Plant Food is available as both a concentrate in variety of one quart containers (ready-to-use, concentrate and with a convenient hose-end spray attachment).
Salmon Plant Food can be purchased at independent garden centers throughout both the Northeast and Northwest.
Fog Island Kelp
Organic Plant Food
Coastal gardeners have long understood the remarkable fertilizing properties of seaweed. Fog Island Kelp is the latest addition to the Coast of Maine line of organic plant foods. It is an extra-rich liquid seaweed extract made from Norwegian kelp or common rockweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) that is hand-harvested along the shores of the Gulf of Maine. This is then concentrated by a process of low temperature vacuum evaporation, thus preserving all the benefits naturally found in kelp.
You can use Fog Island Kelp for the care and feeding of all indoor and outdoor plants including annuals, perennials, roses, shrubs and trees. It can be applied as a foliar spray, preferably in the early morning or late afternoon. Outdoors, Fog Island Kelp need only be used four times during the growing season: when your plants first begin to leaf; when flower buds first begin to form; just as flowers begin to emerge; and, when vegetables and fruit begin to mature. Indoors, you can water-in or spray your houseplants once every 3 or 4 weeks.
Fog Island Kelp is highly concentrated, so a single tablespoon per gallon of water is sufficient, either watered-in or applied as a foliar spray directly on leaves and flowers. Make sure to thoroughly cover all leaf surfaces.
Fog Island Kelp is approved by the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association for use in the production of certified organic crops.
It is available in 16 and 32 ounce containers and can be purchased at better independent garden centers throughout the Northeast and Northwest.
St. Andrews Blend
Lawn and Garden Food
Last year we introduced an organic, all-purpose, granular lawn and garden food. Made of 100% pasteurized hen manure, this 4-1-2 fertilizer has no odor and is safe and designed to be used with all mechanical lawn spreaders (both drop and broadcast).
St. Andrews feeds naturally without burning. It releases its nutrients gently and as needed by both plants and grass. It also provides an excellent source of organic matter for healthy, productive soil.
We have named this product for the picturesque costal village of St. Andrews, New Brunswick. Located at the end of a small peninsula where the St. Croix River empties into Passamaquoddy Bay, St. Andrews looks faces the towns of Robinston and Eastport, Maine across the bay.
St. Andrews Blend it is available in a 40 pound, 1 cubic foot bag at independent garden centers throughout the Northeast.
