Product Review: Cedar Logs

Cedar logs from Coast of Maine
The alternative to stick firewood and our favorite for "firewood on demand"

Great Product...

Great execution of concept...

Great for the environment and a real paradigm shift!

So who likes cutting, splitting, stacking, storing firewood? Especially if you burn four cords per season like The Ratings Guy does. We found the ultimate improvement; Coast of Maine Cedar Logs created from cedar wood chips, an environmentally friendly by-product of the home building industry right here in Maine. Why burn by-product? Well, here are our top 10 reasons for why we like Cedar Logs:

  1. Zero carbon footprint, less CO2 burning the logs than letting the waste compost in a dump, and we don't kill trees to create energy,
  2. Firewood on demand, we order it by the pallet from the lumberyard, they deliver it to my garage on a boom truck. We don't inventory four cords, and I only pay for what I need when I take delivery ... and I can get dry wood in February;
  3. Cedar Logs are packaged in a handy bundle, are clean of bark, bugs, spiders, mice, worms and snakes when they come in the house,
  4. Cedar Logs are 100% dry, they light quickly, burn hot with less ash and particulate matter and because they are so dry they don't produce creosote,
  5. The burn efficiency on a BTU basis is fantastic, and the weight/mass to BTU ratio doesn't fill your garage up with wood unnecessarily, taking up much less space,
  6. Unlike Duraflame petroleum logs, they smell like cedar when they burn, produce a natural flame and wonderful hard coal for building a nice coal base,
  7. We burn in four fireplaces and one Vermont Casting stove, and we like that the logs don't spit or pop ... because they are dry. Cedar logs produce the same nice look in an open hearth as stick wood, with much less tending,
  8. We also like burning in conjunction with stick wood as well because even seasoned wood won't burn well without a good coal bed. We tend to mix it up a bit, especially if a windfall lands a free tree from our property,
  9. My wife and kids don't mind bringing Cedar logs in from the garage, and
  10. I have more time to do what I want than chop, split, stack, carry and inventory stick wood. The garage is for the car, my time is for me!

Thanks Coast of Maine from the Ratings Guy, it's a great product for all the right reasons!
